We were hiking on Whitney on July 4th, 2015- looking for pictures/video of the inclement weather that hit around 2:30pm that day. Phone got soaked and lost all pictures. Thank you!

If you're willing to pay for it, there are data recovery places that can try to recover data from dead phones.
After the 5 hour rain/hail storm I went through in Yosemite in June, I bought a waterproof case for my iPhone for my big hikes.
