Hey everyone!
I'm looking for a place in the south Sierras (south of Yosemite) to go winter car camping and snowshoeing. Requirements are accessibility with an AWD vehicle, snow, and epic views. Beyond that, the sky's the limit... I'd really appreciate recommendations! The Whitney zone is my default winter destination, and I'd love recommendations in that area, but I'm open to other ideas as well.
Thanks in advance!

I've camped twice this winter at holiday camp just off the 395 at Rock creek for BC winter splitboarding. The road is groomed 5 miles to mosquito flats trailhead into little lakes valley.

There is also bitterbush camp just outside of bishop and you could snowshoe into lake Sabrina. Independence has a camp open as well. These are all free in winter.

You could also drive up the road toward Devils Postpile, as far as it is plowed past the Mammoth ski area, and snowshoe the ridge to the northwest from the Minaret Summit. That would give you fantastic views of the Minarets and Banner Peak and Mt Ritter.
