I love the telephone picture with that article. Someone at the Inyo N.F. office explained to me a year or so back, that their carrier in Bishop, Verizon, could not upgrade their lines to accept multiple calls, and setup a call-in queue so people could wait rather than redialing all the time. I guess this means that Verizon has finally brought the Owens Valley out of the third-world country status.
