I received my lottery results this morning...alas, no luck. Good luck everyone.

I won the whitney lotto!
i even got my first choice.

Unfortunately, a day after i entered the lotto, i decided i'd rather go from cottonwood exiting whitney. And I obtained that permit.
so they get to keep my lotto entry money, and i'll be declining this win as i'm hiking whitney via cottonwood which is a different permit.

I think its good that rather than doing a one day death march, i'll be taking my time, though i'll be hiking a further, and carrying a much heavier pack.

Too bad for Marty, congrats MtP. The longer trip will be less stressful, that's for sure.

I heard from my Inyo National Forest contact that the lottery filled over 99% of the slots between May 1 and Nov 1. There almost no remaining slots left to get on April 1, so they won't be opening those up. So that moves to May 1, when all the permits that were won, but the winners did not pay for the slots, will become available.
