I think it is on the way to Death Valley. But someone more familiar with that area might know better.

Based on Jeff's idea, I went Google Earth-ing with some help from Gmap4. From E Ave I and 190th St E, (about 15 miles NE of Pearblossom, and 21 miles E of Lancaster) at the corner of the Butte Valley Wildflower Sanctuary. Looking south, the hills in the foreground are the Saddleback Butte State Park, and Mt Baldy should be the peak on the left. Here's the Gmap4 map of the location.

Using Google Earth, and rotating the view to the south, (with lots of futzing around), I got this view:
