Hmm...it sure looks more like the back of the San Gabriels out by Pearblossom to me.
Based on Jeff's idea, I went Google Earth-ing with some help from Gmap4. From E Ave I and 190th St E, (about 15 miles NE of Pearblossom, and 21 miles E of Lancaster) at the corner of the Butte Valley Wildflower Sanctuary. Looking south, the hills in the foreground are the Saddleback Butte State Park, and Mt Baldy should be the peak on the left. Here's the
