Hi All - First question here! I am new to Mt. Whitney and my son and I are climbing Whitney Train Jun 25. Up to Trail Camp on the 25th. Summit and back to Trail Camp on the 26th (maybe go lower if we have energy). Finish on the 27th. I'm torn about what to do about boots and spikes based on crazy weather this year. Hoping to use "non-alpine/non-mountaineering" boots and carry mini-spikes. Not sure what you experts and those of you who have already climbed this season. Looking for thoughts and specific recommendations (brands, models, shank, etc.). Thank you! |
