Mt Whitney Zone Forums Thread Like Summary - Camping 2 nights at Cottonwood Lakes?

Can I camp 2 nights at Cottonwood Lakes? My plan is to hike to the lakes, camp, do Mt Langley the 2nd day leaving my tent up, camp again a second night if necessary, then return to the trailhead. But it seems most people only do one night. Thanks.

Your camping permit enables you to camp as many nights as you want -- you DO have to move at least every two weeks (prevents squatters). They like you to identify where you expect to camp, but that is only for informational purposes, in case you are reported missing.

Camping at the trailhead, Horseshoe Meadows, is limited to one night.

Cottonwood Lakes and Mt Langley are a great place to experience. Just be aware of the high altitude, and maybe acclimate some before hiking in.
