Finally made it on our third attempt. As difficult a hike as can be imagined. 5000 ft of elevation gain in about 5 miles with no trail. Most of wreckage unseen, covered in snow.

Great weather. Plenty of water on the way up. 36 hours on the mountain. 1 hour at the crash site. Lost 13 lbs body weight.

This is the article that sparked my interest 4 years ago:

Congrats on making the trip. Too bad you went so early in the year and found so much snow.

Taylor E, who set off the sensational news about the crash was an airplane crash buff, and had hoped to write a book about that crash, or maybe multiple crashes. Unfortunately due to the memories his inquiries dug up, some people were less than appreciative, and he abandoned his quest to write the book.

I have tried to get ahold of him on FB. I found something that might interest him.

Just checked out your photos. Its always buried this time of year. Late fall is the best time to visit the site. I have been to the site three times now. I may go back in august.

Good thing it was a horrible winter or the site would have been totally buried. I'm curious how you found it. Find me at "Taylors aviation archaeology" on FB.

The register was still in place when I went up two years ago.I left a memorial and photos in the tail empinage the first time I went up. I recently visited the TA 4 that was the first of five aircraft to go missing searching for N15570.found the other three as well. Doing the complete quest was an awesome experience. Finishing the book has been tough smile
Nice job DT smile

We were only there an hour, never got to the main wreckage, and there was lots of snow. Didn't see it.
