SPOT is a handy tool, but it can sometimes be misleading. I wasn't sure that it would work in the trees, so I pushed "OK" a few minutes before I got back to camp. I think my time from Trail Crest to camp was more like 1:19, not 1:09.

I didn't glissade at all on this trip. Glissading is dangerous, it's a great way to ruin a good pair of pants, and getting your ass cold and your clothes soaking wet isn't a real bright idea at 13,600 in January. I only glissade when the snow is too sloppy for walking. The conditions were about as good as they could be in January; it was fairly easy to make good time with a light pack, crampons, and ski poles.
