There was an article in the
Sierra Wave about the storm, and what some felt was the "selective" enforcement of the chain requirement by the CHP, even for those individuals with 4x4 and snow tires. Seems why over the top, but this is California, after all. I was at Walker Pass (178) Sunday AM doing a short hike north on the PCT.
Bishop's a nice place. Not too many towns where you can step out of the supermarket and look up and see a glacier. We moved from the east coast a few years ago, and looked at Bishop. At the time it was spendy, as people priced out of Mammoth were moving to Bishop, and some Bishop residents were in turn moving to Chalfont. A recent article in the
Inyo Register indicated prices were now lower, however.
