Rachel, thanks for the report. Nothing boneheaded about your trip -- you just hiked into some really foul weather. Whitney will always be there, so no reason to force a hike when conditions are so miserable.
The only boneheaded thing might have been if you had not turned around when you experienced the white-out situation.
