Well, my back went South a couple of weeks back and after a few days of Vicoden, Naproxen and a muscle relaxent, Flexeril, I felt good enough to take a trip up San Jacinto. My back must be better as my buddy DJ, my son Cy and I hiked the Marion Mtn Trail on Saturday 6-11. As most of you know, Marion Mtn is the steepest route to the summit with a distance of app 5.5 miles to the summit and an elevation gain of 4800 feet. No world records, took 3.75 up and 2.75 down. My son wanted to run down, but after the WWW marathon last month, I decided no more running for me. I hadn't been above 10,000 ft since last fall and I felt the altitude a bit when we passed about 10,200 feet. The summit was beautiful with forever views. Very little snow on the trail, but the trail above Little Round Valley is pretty beat up from the Winter storms, so you need to take your time to find the trail. This is a great hike now because the waterfalls are flowing really well and there are several right now.
Overall a great Mt Whitney preparation hike.
