In an edit just after writing the above -- I noticed in the video just above this post that it appears he's walking downhill through the Supai Tunnel on the North Kaibab.
actually, he's walking through the 'tunnel' - or arch - on the bright angel trail just below the bright angel's trailhead on the south rim.
