I guess I do get a little obsessed sometimes with planning and details. (I think that's why I am so obsessed with helping people with the Whitney permit process.) I usually procrastinate, but on these big trips, taking care of the details helps a lot. ...but I still miss sometimes, like my tent stakes on a trans-Sierra trip last fall, and that was because I did not start preparing soon enough.
As for spare time: what's that? A hint: TV is almost nonexistent in my life, and I never get enough sleep. My motto could be, "
Life is short, stay awake!" or replace "
stay awake" with "
drink coffee".
