Ottawa is a very nice city! I have visited there a few times and everyone I know who lives there or has lived there loves it. Tons of snow in the winter!
Unfortunately we missed the cut off to apply for the permit lottery this year, which is why we are planning so ridiculously far out - I appreciate the kind offer for 2016, maybe we will luck out for 2017 and you will happen to be in the neighbourhood at the right time. I guess I just wanted to gauge how outlandish the idea would seem before making it a more concrete plan in my head - you're right, no doubt we will have to check back in much closer to the date.
