After reading warnings online about devils backbone, confusing trail intersections etc., we all did enough research and by the time we hit the trail, we were all totally comfortable and exited to be there-no problems finding our way. Very warm day with lots of bugs on the summit.

The Devils Backbone is a winter problem. People go up there with microspikes and trekking poles and get in way over there heads. This winter it cost two people their lives. In the summer, once you clear the ski runs, the Devils Backbone is a pussycat.

Last week, a group went off trail on purpose and cliffed out causing an air rescue.
