I just skied Whitney on Saturday, from just below the notch all the way down to about 9300 ft (where the avalanche occurred). It's possible to ski a bit further. The final 400 is skiable, but there's a rock band near the bottom that you'll want to avoid. Timing is everything - hit the chute before it gets shaded around 1-2 PM.
