When you drop down to Vidette on the JMT and hike south for about a third of a mile, you come to a bear box. Well, that box is now locked with a note on it from the Park Service indicating that the locking of the bear box is due to hikers leaving trash and other items in it.
The next bear box going sout is about a mile.
