Ha.....I summit Whitney and it snows the next weekend. I summit Baldy and it snows the next weekend! CA really, really needs the snow, badly. Looks like more water rationing. Weatherman says it's an El Nino, so we are supposed to get a whole mess of snow and rain this Winter. Bulldog, maybe Death Valley will have lots of snow capped peaks and we'll have to trek around the sand.
I guess that probably means snow on Whitney thru July. I can't wait to see Whitney (from a distance) in February. In May, it's the Wild Wild West Marathon for me. With my new titanium hip, I'm walking it. Anybody else doing the marathon in May?
Hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving.

Quillansculpture, please do NOT summit anything in Eastern California in February before I get out there. I don't like this trend you've established of snows following your summits. And hiking in DV always means hiking in beach sand at some point during the day, so it's all relative. Pick you poison - scree, sand, or sandy scree. I hate all three, but it's worth it for the views and surroundings. Telescope and Wildrose will probably be icy regardless of El Nino or not, so I never try those in the winter. I'm looking forward to giving Corkscrew Peak a shot - assuming you stay away before we actually climb it. THEN it can snow the following weekend!

Bulldog, when you are here, if there is snow, I'll get you up something. Believe me, DV with a snow frosting only makes it more amazing. But I agree about the weather thing and QS. Hmmm...

Moosie, you're on.
Quillansculpture, get out there the third week of Feb and summit something. Snow = Moose Sighting.
