I just tell everyone it's a miserable slog with no payoff. Keeps the permits available.......

What red tape? I have never participated in the lottery and always seem to get the permit I want when I want it. Then again, I know how to game the system to my advantage.

This year I may summit Mt. Whitney twice and I will not pay a stinking Whitney Zone fee to do so.
