Bob R just returned from a successful trip to climb Mt Kilimanjaro. He was accompanied by friends Jay, Bill and Dan from California, and 5 others from various countries.

Here's a report from the tour company: Kilimanjaro - Western Breach

                Nice pictures:

Bob's album is here: 2011-02-05 Mt. Kilimanjaro

While they were there, they also climbed Mt Meru, 14,980', to help with the acclimatization:

Kilimanjaro is definitely on my to-do list. Sadly, it appears that by the time I get there, there won't be a glacier left!!! I can't believe that enormous monstrosity has been reduced to a little wall.

Bob, what a fantastic trip you took. If you don't mind me asking, how much does a trip like this cost?

I like the report showing all the people on your trek and their countries. Did everyone speak English?

Hello, Bob R. It looks like you had a great trek! I was on Kili in January with Zara Tours on the Machame Trek. For those that blanch on the $6500 price, you don't have to pay that much. Granted, you get what you pay for, but Zara did a very nice job. For the 7 day Machame route, with a couple extra days hotel and airport transfers was about $1800. Add your flight, a few meals and that is what it costs. That does not include any gear or side trips, such as a safari.

Great trip report Bob.Loved reading every word of it.
Great job especially considering the bouts of AF.Makes the accomplishment and story all that much better.Love the note to the doctor "after" the trip and his response...lol.Oh BTW I am climbing one of the higest peaks in the world and I have an active case of AF.No prob.
