Nice photos. Looks a bit like the Rocky Peak/Stoney Point area in Socal. Minus the ticks and poison oak.

Am pretty sure the flower is Charlotte's Phaecelia. Am told it's only found in the Sierra.

Not that that's particularly unusual. If you read a flower book on the Eastern Sierra, there are several plants which are found in limited areas only. I found that rather surprising, but seems now seems more par for the course in terms of the unusual niche California plays.
