Two years ago when I last drove up from L.A. to the portal for a 3 day climb I expected to pick up some fresh fruit and bagels in Lone Pine to supplement my trail food. All that I found in the local grocery was week old packaged bagels and marginal fruit selections. Any suggestions on where to provision with fresh food, or do we just haul it up from home.

There's a Stater Bros. in Mojave. Don't know if they have high-end bagels though. There is little bakery in LP now in the same block as the Whitney Restaurant, but have been in there in search of bread and rolls, not bagels, so don't know if they make them.

Personally, I'd bring them from home. The Eastern Sierra is filled with scenery, not bakeries and fruit stands. Just isn't the population to support a diverse shopping experience. That's what LA is for ... wink
