My son and I just summited San Jacinto peak this Father's Day and had a great time. I have acquired day use permits for the Whitney zone for July 12th and are going to try the entire 22 mile trek in one day starting around 4AM. We plan on staying at Cottonwood for the two nights previous. This will be our first time on the Whitney Trail and I would like to see if any experience Whitney summiters would like to go with us that day.
Experience not essential, but looking to connect beforehand with people that have permits for July 12th and maybe meet up.

thanks,

Dudimus, welcome to WhitneyZone.

Even if you don't connect with anyone here, you will be hiking with at least 200 other hikers on the trail, so you're likely to connect with others starting about the same time as you.

Have a great hike -- the snow should be really clearing away by then.

Yes, I am reading the "Current hiking conditons" part of this forum and it seems as if everyone makes a real effort to keep fellow hikers up to date as to conditions. The switchbacks will most likely be useable by then. Thanks for the reply.
