Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion 2 extra permits for July 4 - the 6th.

I have 2 extra permits that I can not use, friends can not make it to climb Whitney on July 4 - 6th. Please call my cell (815) 822- 1717 and they are yours for the price I paid. I will be arriving in Lone Pine on July 1st. I will pick up the permits on July 3rd. Do not try in email me because I will not be around a computer after today.

First of all, they appear to be overnight hike reservations, right?

You cannot sell (or even give away) your reservations for Whitney Permits. Only you (or an alternate leader if you designated one) can pick up ALL the permits.

The right thing to do is call the Wilderness Permit number, 760-873-2483, and release the permits you don't need. That way, someone else can call in and reserve them (up to two days before the hike).

If you don't call and release them, they become available to walk-in people the day before a day-hike (2 pm), or the day OF an overnight hike (11 am).
