Sierra drinking water

With no sign of cattle poop within miles - we found a nice spring coming out of the ground. Elevation approximately 6k feet. Good enough to dip a Sierra Cup and drink.

Ok Tom, what's the catch? That looks like a mud puddle, not a "nice spring coming out of the ground".

Was there any flow of water coming out, and what creature came before you and stirred it up?

Steve -

This water is not a standing mud puddle but actually fresh water. Often animals will dig down a few inches open up a hole later in the season when the spring is no longer flowing. This is a year round spring. Many tracks leading to this water hole including deer, birds, and other mammal tracks. In the spring / early summer this is actually a flowing water source.
