"Under hard times in State government, cutbacks have come down on the University of California. As a result the White Mountain Research Station in Bishop has suffered budget cuts and plans to partially close down its Owens Valley Facility this winter and spring."

Continued at the Sierra Wave.

We were told last night, at the Mine in the Sky lecture, that the Thursday night lectures were being cancelled until further notice. Very sad to see the valley station shut down, but they plan to resume operations in the Summer. The high altitude facilities, where most of the WMRC research is conducted, will continue to operate.

Better to sack scientific research than to burden billionaires with an extra point or two in tax.
