Half Dome Then and Now

My wife gasped a bit when she saw this picture of me up on Half Dome last Saturday.

Her concern got me to searching for how much those exfoliating rocks up on top shift.

I found this gem of a picture from 1875. Half Dome Then and Now

The link will take you to an even higher resolution picture. The slab that appears to be precariously hanging on to the rock just under the slab I'm on has been there for 137 years without any apparent movement. Pretty cool pic.

Nice! Thanks for finding those pictures.

Looking closely, it appears the basketball sized rock at the man's feet got pushed off, and the smaller of the two at the top.

Yeah, I circled areas where we seem to be missing a few rocks over the years. Can you find more rocks missing? I love this forum. Where else do you find this stuff?
