Nice, Demitri! And an article from my favorite newspaper reporter, too.
To summarize, the article names these:
- Dewey Point, Yosemite National Park
- Coyote Loop, Sierra National Forest
- Panoramic Point, Kings Canyon National Park
- Big Meadows, Giant Sequoia National Monument
- Panther Gap Loop, Sequoia National Park
I have only done the Dewey Point trip, and on X-C skis. (Others in the group used showshoes, and they were definitely more stable, but a little slower in places. There are some dicey steep slopes for the skis, though.
Another winter trip on skis, but too far for snowshoes, is the trip out to Glacier Point. Skiers have to hustle to get out and back, but the trail (road) is groomed all the way.
