Since I'm in the Central Valley I'm all over Yosemite & Sequoia National Park but I would like to find some new trails that you would recommend for snowshoeing.

These trails are cool but well traveled:

Nice, Demitri! And an article from my favorite newspaper reporter, too.

To summarize, the article names these:
  • Dewey Point, Yosemite National Park
  • Coyote Loop, Sierra National Forest
  • Panoramic Point, Kings Canyon National Park
  • Big Meadows, Giant Sequoia National Monument
  • Panther Gap Loop, Sequoia National Park
I have only done the Dewey Point trip, and on X-C skis. (Others in the group used showshoes, and they were definitely more stable, but a little slower in places. There are some dicey steep slopes for the skis, though.

Another winter trip on skis, but too far for snowshoes, is the trip out to Glacier Point. Skiers have to hustle to get out and back, but the trail (road) is groomed all the way.

South Fork of Bishop Creek, which starts at Bishop Creek lodge and proceeds over Bishop Pass into Dusy Basin. It's also a very nice ski trip, with some good bowls on the east side of Bishop Pass. There is a snow-survey cabin at Bishop Lakes. Possible avalanche danger after Long Lake.
