Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion Ice climber falls, survives, brings back video

Here's a video taken by a British mountain climber. He was hit by a chunk of ice dislodged by a climber above, and slid/fell some distance. It was all caught on his helmet camera.

Ouch!
He seemed unable to self arrest (may have lost grip on ice axe(s), and I guess finally lost both - see other links). Did seem able to steer around most of the big rocks, but also found a couple. Guess is back side is in pain. Other article mentiond broken bones (ankles/leg?). Wow, lucky to survive.
