Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion AUGUST 12-16 PERMIT FOR 2

Hello all,
My friend and I are giving Whitney a second shot. We would love for someone who has 2 extra permits during the week of August 12th-16th to give us their permits. Overnight or day doesn't particularly matter, we will make due with whatever circumstances are given. Please respond to this post or send us an email at mountingwhitneysb@gmail.com.

We do not want to book flights and not climb the mountain, considering we are from North Carolina.

If you have an extra permit, it would be greatly appreciated. Any other pertinent information would be great as well.

Unfortunately, people cannot transfer their permits to you. You could potentially join another group, but most of the time that does not occur.

However, if you come out that week, I am sure you will get the permits. There are always cancellations and no-shows that become available at the Visitor Center.

Check last year's Unused Permits page. You can see that even in August, there were always permits available, except on some Fridays. So come out, spend some time at Horseshoe Meadows acclimating, come down in the mornings to wait in line for a permit. You WILL get them!

If you check the Recreation.gov website in the week or so before you come out, there are likely to be a few permits showing up there, too.
