Not being familiar with the campgounds in the Sierras, am looking for feedback on whether Grandview may fill up over the July 4th weekend. Just need one night. Thx!

My hunch is that it will not. Besides being well off the beaten track, it has no water, I've never seen more than a few spots being used, and often when I've driven thru it's completely empty.

In the event that you can't find a spot, there is another camping area at the end of the road, about 20 miles further north. The road is rough, so it will take you about 45 minutes to get there. It's nowhere near as desirable as Grandview, but does have pit toilets, but again - no water.

Grand View was full the one time I tried it about 10 years ago.

I think we found a wide turnout on the road a few miles beyond, and parked and camped there. We got up asap in the morning and cleared out.

Thanks for the info, it does appear to be well off the beaten path but you never know. Now to check the weather!
