Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion Horseshoe Meadow Road Open?

Is Horseshoe Meadow Road open? I have a friend who wants to hike Langley in two weeks. Since that road has a gate, it could be gated closed due the govt. shutdown. Or is it a county road? Thank you!

Gate is closed as per DougSR at the store. It barely adds ten miles to your hike though. .....................DUG

Not closed as of Thursday the 3rd and open yesterday (Sunday the 6th) as well.
I suppose they could have closed it/opened it in between those times?

The Road was open on 10/10 - 10/12 we climbed Langley on 10/11 old army pass. Snow melting out to lake. 6 - 8 of snow up top , drifting up to mid calf/knee, but warming up

We camped out there on the 11th. The road was open all the way up, some gates to the campgrounds are closed but the walk in campground was wide open and even the bathroom doors where not locked ( thank you ). We had a great night there before heading down to start the Whitney hike the next day.
