A few of us tried Thor Peak this weekend. Actually, the main goal was igloo-building training at Lower Boy Scout Lake on Saturday, followed by a possible attempt on Thor the next day. While an 8-foot igloo would have been sufficient for the four of us, we decided on an 11-footer, just for fun. We ran out of time and good snow, so ad-libbed on the roof closure. We didn't notice the high winds that night, but others camped nearby told us.

slide show. Jay's pictures. The igloo, holding as many as seven, will survive until hit by the sun when warmer temperatures return. Until them, anyone is free to use it. Just send $20 to my address.
