On June 12 we met two middle age hikers. Me and my wife started at Whitney Portal at 1.30 am that day. These two hikers passed us after 1.30 am within the first 10 minutes after starting. Then we met them again after the switchbacks, we were going up, still trying to reach the top while they were coming down. The tallest one claimed to have climbed Whitney 20 times already, while his companion had climbed it twice already. We had a short conversation at that point after the switchbacks. They encouraged us to continue to the top.
I would like to reach out to them for some advice and possible hiking in the future. If anyone knows who I am talking about please let me know.
Me and my wife would be glad to talk to them again.
