Can anyone help me find average temperatures for Cottonwood Campground and Indian Garden Campground? Specifically for Oct 3 and 4. I can find this info for North and South Rim but not for the campgrounds part way down/up the rims.

Here's a link to N Rim, S Rim, and Phantom Ranch. If you calculate the elevation differences, then the elevation of your spots, you can probably come pretty close.

But I would bet Cottonwood and Indian Gardens are nearly as warm as Phantom Ranch. I'm thinking you will see mid 80s.

I have calculated as you suggested -

Cottonwood campground Oct ave = Hi 77 Low 50

Indian Garden campground 78 51

I am driving from the South Rim to the North Rim and starting my hike that day hopefully by 1PM. Does anyone know how long it will take me to get down to Cottonwood Campground where I'll be camping? It's 6.8 miles 4,161 ft elevation loss. I'm figuring not more than 4 hours.

Day two Cottonwood to Indian Gardens about 12 miles total 1,600 elevation loss/1,320 gain. If I'm on the trail by 7 or 8AM I should arrive at Indian Gardens at a decent time. Any experienced guesses?

Day three IG to South Rim 4.9 miles 3,060 ft elevation gain. Hoping to get topside by noon. Again any guesses?

Your hiking time estimates look pretty good, as long as you aren't carrying a heavy pack. You sure don't need much in the way of a sleeping bag or tent at those temps! The last day may take longer -- 3000 ft of climb with a backpack.

NOAA weather in the Grand Canyon area:
Cottonwood Elev 4114     Indian Garden 4183

Enjoy the hike!! Grand Canyon is a special place.
