So Desiree hasn't done the 6th lake chute or summited Langley and Louise is in training for the Matterhorn and Eiger in Switzerland next month. Frank stayed at 6th lake and we had beautiful weather and no one around again at 6th lake. Frank and Lou went home Saturday and Des and I bivyed at the lake, very quiet night 90% moon, light wind a couple of times, waking Sunday morning to coffee. When going to the summit Des took the far left side up while Lou and I went though the rocks. When Des came down the chute she said we were going to have pry her fingers from these poles, she was white knuckling them all the way down eek . So this is my 7th time to the lake and have only seen 2 other people there so if you want quiet and isolation 6th lake and the chute is it.

Lou brought up cupcakes for Desiree's 60th B.D.

Say, Mark, in August, I hauled my backpacking gear up to Lake 6 and stayed on the north side. Not a bad camping spot, but it did take me a while to get there.

Heading north from Lake 5, I encountered several spots with refrigerator-sized boulders that were a bit challenging to work through. At the 6th lake, I should have navigated around the west side, but took the east, and that added lots of time, too.

Heading up the chute to the Langley plateau was just a talus climb, so wasn't that bad. Unfortunately, it was just the beginning of a very long day that ended at Sky Blue Lake, where I lost my dinner due to the altitude and exhaustion.

Sorry about the dinner someday day when I see you I owe you a dinner smile .

when your coming from the trail head and your at the intersection where on your left you see a forest service maintenance shed with a small stream crossing take the trail to the right follow the edge along the trees which is the north side of the meadow. If your coming from 4th or 5th lake head north east until you come to those same trees and head north. you might see a 15ft tall snow marker head north from there.

Wow!! I never went around the Lake from the East side(who does that) smile

The chute is a lot of fun depending on what your carrying it takes me anywhere from 50min. to 1hr and 15min depending who I'm with.

BTW: what does 541 mean are there that many in CA?

this is the intersection see the green rectangle patch(at the top of the trees) at 1 o clock that's the pond and brush below 6th lake
