My wife and I (as well as Steve C and wagga) will be in the holy city of Lone Pine from June 10 to 13, to do something good for the WHA.
For those who don't know what is going on this weekend, Steve C will tell you more.
My wife and I will be staying at the Whitney Hostel. It will our first stay at the prestigous hostel. We never have stayed in a hostel so we are kind of excited about it. Spoke with Doug Sr. on the phone to get the beta on hostel life. The only things missing are room service and a wake up call. But who needs that anyway.
Hope to see some of you who post here. It will be a good feeling to meet "pen pals."
We hope to saunter up to Thor via the North Fork on Saturday, June 12, dependent upon other matters outside of my control.
We will definitely be up at the Portal Store stuffing our faces with that Moose Burger and Fries while chasing it down with an IPA.
So if you are in the area, drop by.
I could be wearing my chartreuse yellow shirt with my wife one-half block in front or behind me. She doesn't want to be seen in public with me with that shirt on.
Or I could wear my Beretta hunter orange and camouflage vest. On second thought maybe not. Don't want anyone to think I was armed for crying out loud! I won't be packing any heat.
You can spot me with a black cap with the latin phrase "de oppresso liber" in honor of my late father. He was one of them.
Or you can spot me with my red Marine Corps cover (cap). Now, you can't miss that from a mile away.
Or, if you spot a beautiful blonde with "some guy" (sorry, Bob R.), chances are it will be me.
Or, you can "challenge and password" me. Your challenge word is "cujo." My response (password) is "danu."
Either way, I will be noticed without being too egoic.
Hope to see some of you...
Have fun.
Journey well...

I'll be in sites 19,21,23 and 42 Friday night - up along the Meysan Trail Saturday, returning Sunday Morning. Leaving the AOR Monday morning. Da Moose plans on coming by to give a Grouse grief since we will be entering the danger zone. Look for some happy, sharp dressed scouts and I'll be nearby somewhere.......................DUG

We're going to Mammoth the 21st-26th. Planning on stopping at the Portal sometime the afternoon/early evening of the 21st for dinner... someone has taken the description of a MooseBurger as a personal challenge and plans on conquering it for dinner.... then we'll be up there again one more time during that week so that the same person can summit Mt. Pancake... think DougSr will wrap a MooseBurger in Mt. Pancake so that both can be tackled at the same time?

Full load of patients on Friday, but I'm still hoping to head to the promised land to meet up with da boys.
If for no other reason than to discuss bird-hunting strategies...

We won't be hard to spot: Big suburban with a bunch of ladders strapped on top.
...I've still got a bunch of packing to do.
Regarding "Lone Pine wthii": I punched in Lone Pine on my highway GPS last time we went over, and ...it died!!! It apparently tried to navigate through the Sierra via back roads and the Porterville area. Got a software update now, so we'll see how it does.

Still an outside chance we can make it up Sat afternoon. Dad is going to have surgery to remove a cerebral spinal fluid block on his brain next week. Meanwhile his medicare case worker kicked him out of the hospital today because he is not sick enough with congestive heart failure and pneumonia. He was placed in a nursing home untill he has neuro surgery next week. I kid you not.

So why don't we get everyone together to buy one of those multi-million dollar houses that are going to be built up Portal Road. Then we wouldn't have to bring our motor homes, tents, camping gear, etc. We could get a big frige, fill it with beer and steaks to attract the bears, cable tv and a couple of dozen beds. We could cook Grouse on the Holy Holiday. Every once in a while, 'tude , Laura or DUG could go to the top of the mountain and bring some granite tablets back for us to read. And you thought heaven wasn't on earth. We could call it the Vatican West!

And we could have a Holy Webcam on the roof with pan, tilt & zoom, setup on the website so that the faithful could pay to operate. Double rates on Holy Grouse Day.
While we are establishing a new religion, it would be a good time to correct a most egregious typographical error - "celebrate" lost a single character in some monk's copy effort.
And the head of the Church could should wear a funny hat!.

And with all the money coming in from the Holy Webcam, we could buy a big-screen TV.

And the head of the Church could should wear a funny hat!. I like it. The Exalted and Illustrious Congregation of the High Church of Epical $hit-Doers. Regular pancake communion, Wednesday evening Mooseburger Fellowship, sacrifice a grumpy grouse every now and again just for chuckles (and to keep the High Priestess happy) - this could work. And I like "celebrate" versus the monkishly mistaken alternative.
