Hi Everyone,
I am looking for a day permit and possibly a partner(S) to do the Whitney trail as a day hike on Tues., 8/22, Wed.,8/23, or Thurs.,8/24. Please contact me if you have a permit that you aren't using. Thanks, Kevin

Kevin, are you hoping for an overnight or day hike permit? If you show up at the Visitor Center S of Lone Pine the day before you want to hike, chances are you can pick up a free walk-in permit. Week days are easier to get than weekends. Check the Unused Whitney Permits pages to see the numbers of what is left at the end of each day in the past. Those numbers are what is left at the end of the day, and NOT what is available when they are first made available. Your chances are very good.

Kevin, I looked into the unused day use permits for August over the last three years. There is not a single weekday in August when there wasn't a Day Use permit left over (still available). Just show up the day before (At the Visitor Center in Lone Pine) -- after 2 PM (and before 4:30, I think), and ask for the permit.
