Hi guys hows it going,

It's about that season again and i'm already getting bit by the hiking bug. i'm planning a trip to Mt Shasta this year ( actually 2) and I was hoping that my fellow mountaineers could give me some updates on Mt Shasta conditions. Lemme know your thoughts and other trips or if you're hiking Shasta as well. safe hiking- dustin

Hi Dustin,

I'm planning on an early season Shasta summit as well and here's what I've found, this article was published on 01/30/18:

"The winter of 2018 has generally been a disappointment with unusually warm and dry weather. We are around 60% of normal for precipitation and 25% of snowpack. Conditions are great right now, but without a significant change it may be shaping up to be an early season on Mt. Shasta, plan accordingly. We are forever optimistic and know that some of our snowiest months lie ahead, but as we inch towards spring it will only get warmer. At 7,600 [feet] there is currently about 4 [inches] of snow on the ground on the southside of Mt. Shasta."

It looks like April will be the beginning of climbing season there instead of May. Best, illyav
