Sorry for trying. Head over to Wikipedia and type in "stereogram" and it will give you some examples and instructions as to how this all works. I thought being able to reference the peak in 3D would be cool, but maybe all that high-altitude brain damage has affected me more than most... frown

Jeff, can you translate all of that??? My feeble brain just can't quite read between the lines.

So have you pulled a picture from both web cams and played a little magic for a stereoscopic view? That's how it appears.

Unfortunately, try as I may, I just can't get my eyes to merge the two dots into one so I can see the stereo picture.

...well I CAN slightly cross them, and see something. But like those computer generated holographic pictures, it's supposed to be better if you can do the opposite of crossing, and stare straight ahead to see the view.

Any hints to help view it?

I'm with Steve - it seems to be beyond me. But Jeff might owe me for an optometrist's visit . . .

No can do with eyes.

If future generations are to remember us with gratitude rather than contempt, we must leave them more than the miracle of technology. We must leave them a glimpse of the world as it was in the beginning, not just after we got through with it.

Awwww, Mike! You axed it!!! Put it back and let us stare!

Regardless of what kind of cricket you prefer, or whether you'll hear the end of the story you were in the middle of---and were actually listening to---(or if you'll just grab another Summerfest, head for one of those weird peaks no one cares to buy the belt buckle for, and let the feathers fall where they may), it may come as some point of interest to you that the Hatfields and the McCoys dun' birthed a downright special kid 'un.

See, if you take one of them 14,508 web shots and place it next to one of them 14,497 (give or take) shots that are beamed straight to your armchair every few minutes, and then cross your eyes (with or without the Maker's Mark), you get one of them there stereograms that will illuminate your psyche with depth o'plenty. (Enough to tell that ol' Thor ends on the right and that clump behind is Pinochle Ridge...though I much prefer 7-card stud, if not Go Fish.)

Kind of like a gift from on high, ain't it? Maybe this is the olive branch that breaks the marmot's back? Could peace be declared soon? Only time and talus will tell...

Really nice pic!

The largesse of the foreground compressed with that background makes the climber sort of look like a....bug!

The body betrays and the weather conspires, hopefully, not on the same day.

Ok, I resurrected the picture.... AND I found a way to view it so I can actually see it in stereo. REALLY cool once my eyes adjust.

Here's the picture, adjusted to 376 x 180:

It's small enough so that if I (almost) touch my nose to the monitor, looking at the dots makes them appear as one. (...Yeah, I know, I have a skinny head.) But then.... carefully bringing my gaze down to the picture and backing off slowly, I DO get the three-dimensional view!!!
Very nice!

Holding a piece of paper about the height of an envelop on the white vertical line, and extending it to my forehead helps.

Uh huh, I know. It looks stoopid with my nose stuck to the monitor. grin

More thoughts: The size of the picture also depends on the settings on the monitor you're using. On mine, the dots are right at 2" (5 cm) apart. (Checking my eyes in a mirror with a ruler, pupils are about 2.25"). ...If anyone wants to try this out, and you need a narrower or wider view, let me know what your dots measure, and I'll try to post one fit to your screen.
