I hope this is appropriate for the general discussion. What's the best place to get a good meal this Wednesday night in Lone Pine? We are taking on Mount Whitney Thursday morning so quantity and quality are about equal priorities (with a good beer mixed in to wash it down).

I know you specifically stated Lone Pine, but if you really want a good meal it's worth driving up the road 15 mins to Still Life Cafe in Independence.

I've eaten in just about every restaurant that Lone Pine has to offer, and the one place I keep going back to is the Pizza Factory. It bums me out because they have them everywhere, but for some reason, that one is just better than the others that I've been to.

Seasons is also really good, but pretty pricey as well.

Can't go wrong with Pizza Factory for pizza, pasta, and beer. If you can hit Alabama Hills Cafe for breakfast, you will be happy you did too.

I just ate there a couple weekends ago for the first time, it's kinda hidden away off the main street there. Very good though, we really enjoyed our meal.

Ah, Bo Bo's Bonanza. Used to stop there back in the 60's.

Alabama Hills Cafe, Breakfast + Mimosa(s). Best on the list.

Lone Pine Smokehouse is up and coming. The first time I had their food, it was ok BBQ, nothing to write home about. The second time was so much better. I still think their peppered-rubbed brisket is some of the best I've ever had.

Portal Store Burgers, Beer, and Breakfast will always be a favorite.

Pizza Factory has been my historic go to, but if I'm honest it isn't my favorite.

Bonanza is good food, but the decor is a bit surreal.

If you get off the mountain after 10PM your only option is the Carl's Jr/Shell Gas Station combo.

They always manage to have flies in there, every hour of the day, every day of the year, it seems.

This is the omelette they served me at The Grill. It was delicious.

Is that a typo? Did you mean "fries"?
