Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion Cleaver Col Russell and Barnard

I'm planning a 4 day trip next week up North Fork and over to Lake Tulainyo, Mt Russell summit, on to Wallace Lake and Mt Barnard summit. I seemed to recall a good write up on the route up to the Cleaver and over the ridge but cant seem to find it now. Any info on the north rib route to Russell would be appreciated. We plan on doing the "easy" route up Barnard from below the lake. Is the citadel on Barnard easy to find?

I climbed Gambler's Special last week and took a look at the Cleaver Col. It was filled with a ton of snow.

Thanks, I looked at your report and I guess that first picture is down at the beginning. We are going up Wednesday and still try to decide if we need crampons or micro spike.
