Inyo County just put out road closure information for todays snow storm.
"Inyo County shares that the following roads are closed due to the winter storm: Whitney Portal, Horseshoe Meadows, South Lake Road at Bishop Creek Lodge, Hwy 168 at Aspendell (to Sabrina Lake), North Lake Road, and the White Mountain Road."

Let’s just hope for a short transition from climbing without a jacket to skiing!

Is the Whitney Portal road closed for the season or will it reopen for a bit longer?

Road is very likely to be closed for the winter... todays storm is coming in Very WET and a direct hit for the Southern Sierra (snow level down to 6,000).

Last week we had chain restrictions (on Highway 395) to get to Big Pine!
