This is about the same time of year that hikers on the North Fork of Lone Pine creek have seen (and some have been injured by) snow-melt avalanches.

Avalanche on the North face of Mt San Jacinto last week nearly caught two climbers. One lost his pack and they called RMRU for rescue at about 7K.

I think it's pretty relevant to post about life-threatening conditions exactly like the conditions currently going on in the Whitney area.
