Looking at Inyo Wilderness permits at recreation.gov and say North Fork Lone Pine Creek, the 4 walkups a day
have been dumped into the reservable permits.

I see 4 spots a day from June 2-June 14 (except Sat Jun 13 is gone). Nothing after June 14.

Talked to the Inyo Permit Office today. Due to snafu at recreation.gov, the Whitney North Fork Lone Pine Creek
permits are still no go and you can't get the "Virtual Permits" (call in and get in kiosk) at this time. All the other permits (non-Whitney)
are available, including coming from Horseshoe Meadows to Whitney from the backside.

Hilariously, the permit cancellation messages for Saturday permits went out the day before my reservation was made.

So don't waste your time snapping up those newly available North Fork Lone Pine Creek Whitney permits.

It looks like recreation.gov is now adding the walk-in quota permits in a rolling fashion 15 days ahead. So today being the 3rd the walk-ins showed up for the 18th. I deduced this by looking at George Creek permit reservations (a "class 11" bushwhack to the second highest CA summit and legally dog-able) which usually has no takers (5 reservations and 3 walk-ins). So if they open the Whitney Zone on July 1, then Whitney via the Mountaineering Route (North Fork Lone Pine Creek) legitimate permits may pop up starting around the 15th Of June in a rolling fashion.
