Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion Will there be snow during July 4th weekend?

I am thinking of hiking on Jul 5th and wondering if there will still be snow on the trail especially after Trail Crest? Also how about water level in the creeks? do we need river shoes for crossing?

From the looks of the latest trip reports, I doubt there will be any snow by June 5th. Of course unless there is a late storm.

On the water shoes, I think they are a waste for this trail. I take them in longer hikes, but the crossings at Whitney are pretty minor, specially in a low snow year.

All streams are extremely low for this time of year. All crossings are simple and dry.
