It definitely was an interesting weekend of weather. Went up Saturday morning knowing that there was inclement weather for the afternoon. Great weather overnight, but still set a firm 11am turnaround time (past 2 times have made it up by 9am, and off the hill by 3pm so I thought that was more than enough margin). Had a slower paced member and we made it just shy of third needle when we maxed out our time and turned around. Weather was still great when we turned around at 11 but by 230pm hail, rain, lightning came in as we were just nearing the tree line (great motivation for the slow member), also there were lots of rain induced rock falls. Saw lightning hit Candlelight peak twice.
Also, anyone else see the decent sized rock fall from Mt. Muir around 2pm? Sounded like a fighter jet was taking off from trail camp and made a decent size dust cloud. It was an active and fun day on the mountain.
