Wondering if anyone here experienced or heard about a respiratory infection after the Mt Whitney hike. It's been about a month and a half since my summit. My lungs are pretty lit up on CT. Went through many tests including a lung wash, but couldn't find the pathogen involved. Only thing left is a biopsy.

Not seeking medical advice, but wondering if anyone experienced this before.

Wow! I've not heard of anyone reporting a condition like that. Must be frustrating.

I sure hope it resolves.

In these days of Covid, that might be the first thing to think of rather than the usual Southwest stuff like Valley Fever. Either can cause abnormal see CXR or chest CT. The source may not have been on the day of Whitney.

You are right, I could have picked up something earlier. All the usual suspects have been checked out. Playing the waiting game for some culture to grow.

Was it smoky during your hike? If so, maybe smoke irritation. Feel better soon.

Not to be dramatic, but I think our marmot friends can carry plague. Did you mention your trip to your doctor?

I never heard of Hanta Virus at the Witney area, but Yosemite has had outbreaks. Did you look into Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS)?

I hope you got better.

Curious to see how/if it resolved.

Best

Never heard of anything like that. Maybe it's not related to the Mr. Whitney hike? Anyway, get well soon!
