Hello,

Planning a summit attempt via the main route this Saturday. I've been reading trip reports about post-holing and soft snow. Has anyone recently snowshoed up there?

Many thanks,

Alex

Unfortunately, I have found that as it warms up, snow melts from the inside some of the time, making the snow you are waking over more porous, therefore the post holing problem.

If you try to stay in others' tracks, post holing would be less of a problem. Snow shoes would prevent post holing, but they would slow you down. If you are going overnight, and can take your time, then they might be beneficial.
